In a society where the spotlight is often on women and their wellbeing, the Men’s Health Information Resource Centre of Western Sydney University aims to equalise the focus by coordinating events and raising awareness specifically for men.
The week’s focus is on the physical, social, mental and emotional wellbeing of men and boys. People throughout communities across Australia create events aimed at improving the lives of males through a series of one-off and ongoing physical and digital events and campaigns.
TheMANevent – online
On Saturday, 18 June 2022, starting at 9:00 am, TheMANevent takes place online. For two days, workshops will be held, and ten expert speakers will talk about relationships, health, wealth, business and community. Gold Coast walk from South Burleigh to The Spit
On Sunday 19 June at 5:00 am, those planning on walking will meet at South Burleigh Surf Club for the 18 km walk to The Spit. The event will start with a Welcome to Country, a minute of silence, and the singing of Amazing Grace by Choir Harmony in Paradise. Those who wish to pull a tyre representing all the traumas holding men back from living their best lives can do so. The event is free and open to everyone, including women with loved ones who have suffered mental health issues. Bring your sunscreen, hat, walking shoes, and support the walk.
